Rajut Free Knitting Pattern : Buttoned Baby Hat

a simple knitted baby hat,
because it very easy, everyone can knit one!

material =
katun Poyeng BIG ply 0825 (dark brown) and 0814 (vintage purple)
or any yarn that suitable for 4mm knitting needle.

needle =
size 4mm, circular or set of-5, 20cm length Double pointed knitting needle.
2 any cute buttons
tapestry needle

gauge : 18 sts = 4 inch
yarn weight = sport/ 5 ply (12 wpi)


size =
up to 6 months baby

abbreviation =
sts = stitch
K = knit
KFB = knit in fornt and back - increase
K2Tog = Knit two stitch together - decrease
BO = bind off
CO = cast on

pattern =
With yarn 0825, cast on 78 sts
Work back and forth
Row 1, 5, 6, 10 = K to end
Row 2 = K to last 2 stitch, KFB, k1 - 80 sts
Row 3, 7 = K4, BO2, K to end
Row 4 = K to BO edge, CO2 (with any method you like), K to end
Row 8 = K to BO edge, CO2 (with any method you like), K1, K2Tog, K1 - 79 sts
Row 9 = K1, K2Tog, K to end - 78 sts
Row 11 = BO6, K to end - 72 sts

change with yarn 0814.
work in round
do stockinette (Knit all) until you got 4" from CO edge.

Decrease 9 stitch every 2 rounds as follow =
Round 1 = (K6, K2tog) rep - 63 sts
Round 2, 4, 6, 7, 8 = K to end
Round 3 = (K5, K2tog) rep - 54 sts
Round 5 = (K4, K2tog) rep - 45 sts
Round 7 = (K3, K2tog) rep - 36 sts
Round 9 = (K2, K2tog) rep - 27 sts
Round 11 = (K1, K2tog) rep - 18 sts
Round 13 = (K2tog) rep - 9 sts

cut yarn and fasten off with tapestry needle.

finishing =
add 2 cute button, and maybe you can make a pair of baby booties with the leftover yarns to match the baby hat :)
